Beyond the Boarding Pass: The Mission Behind Femme Forward Flight Foundation

Sometimes, all it takes is one opportunity to change the direction of a woman's future. A passport can open a door. A plane ticket can make an opportunity possible. And a single experience abroad can change the way a woman sees the world and herself. At Femme Forward Flight Foundation Inc., we believe every woman deserves the opportunity to experience that feeling.
Founded in 2024 by Madison Devine and Cali Corson, Femme Forward Flight Foundation Inc., was built on a shared belief that the world has so much to teach us, and that access to those experiences should never be determined by financial circumstances.
Our story began with a simple realization: while studying abroad can be one of the most transformative experiences of a college student's education, the cost of international travel can prevent otherwise deserving students from ever getting on the plane.
We wanted to change what we never got to experience.
Our Mission: Empowering Women Through Global Education
Femme Forward Flight Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering women through global education by funding international flights, providing scholarships, and creating access to life-changing study-abroad opportunities.
We believe that seeing the world does more than introduce us to new places. It challenges our perspectives, builds independence, strengthens confidence, and creates connections that extend far beyond the classroom. Whether a student dreams of studying in Europe, exploring the cultures of Asia, learning in Australia, or discovering opportunities elsewhere in the world, we want to help make that dream attainable.
Our purpose is simple: to eliminate financial barriers that prevent women from pursuing international education and to give the next generation of female leaders the opportunity to grow beyond their comfort zones. The world should be a classroom available to everyone.
Introducing the Fuel Her Flight Initiative
At the heart of our organization is the Fuel Her Flight Initiative, our scholarship program designed to help female college students access university-approved study abroad opportunities. Through this initiative, we provide eligible scholarship recipients with round-trip international airfare assistance, helping remove one of the biggest financial obstacles associated with studying abroad. But our commitment doesn't end at the airport.
We believe students should feel supported throughout their journeys. That's why our initiative also incorporates mentorship, encouragement, and opportunities for students to share their experiences and personal growth while abroad through our Jetsetter Journal.
We aren't simply booking flights for students. We're investing in education, confidence, independence, and her future. Every flight funded represents more than a departure. It represents an opportunity to discover something new, challenge an assumption, build a connection, and return home with a broader understanding of the world.
Why Studying Abroad Matters
There is something uniquely powerful about stepping outside of everything familiar.
Studying abroad encourages students to navigate new environments, communicate across cultures, develop independence, and see their education through a completely different lens. It teaches lessons that cannot always be found in a textbook such as adapting to unfamiliar surroundings to building relationships with people whose backgrounds and perspectives differ from your own.
For young women especially, these experiences can be instrumental in developing the confidence to take risks, pursue ambitious goals, and envision futures they may not have considered before. We believe that when women are given the opportunity to explore the world, they bring those experiences back into their communities, careers, and the lives of others.
That is the kind of impact we want to create.
A Look Inside the Student Experience
What does studying abroad actually feel like? What is it like to navigate a new city, attend classes in another country, make friends from around the world, and experience everyday life somewhere completely unfamiliar? And perhaps most importantly, how does an experience like this change you? We believe the best people to answer those questions are the students themselves.
That's why we're excited to introduce The Jetsetter Journal, our weekly blog series featuring firsthand stories from our Fuel Her Flight scholarship recipients.
Each week, we'll be sharing a new perspective from a female student currently studying abroad. Through personal journal entries, reflections, photographs, and stories, readers will get an inside look at what life abroad is really like. From cultural discoveries and weekend adventures to classroom experiences, unexpected challenges, and moments of personal growth, these stories will capture the experience beyond the typical travel highlights. Our students will also share what receiving a Fuel Her Flight scholarship has meant to them and how the opportunity has helped make their international education possible.
We want these stories to be honest, personal, and inspiring — not just a highlight reel of beautiful destinations, but a reflection of the growth that happens along the way. Our hope is that future applicants will see themselves in these stories, supporters will see the difference their generosity makes, and other young women will feel encouraged to pursue opportunities they may have once thought were out of reach.
